Westville Chelsea is part of the Westville establishment, first opened in 2003 at 333 Hudson Street. Their other locations are at 210 W 10th Street (between 7th and 8th Avenues), and 173 Avenue A (at 11th Street).

Expect a simple, cozy restaurant with competent and friendly servers that manage to take care of your orders and needs in a timely fashion, without pressuring you into eating quicker or hurrying up, even during peak hours.

Perfect for a quick sit-down meal, or to catch up with a friend, the restaurant is always inhabited by its customers, that go from young hip New Yorkers, to more seasoned professionals, thanks to the affordable prices and fresh, simple dishes. However, it only really gets extra busy from 5:45 pm until 9 p.m., times in which finding a table for two may require up to 30 minutes of waiting time.

Speaking from a more pleasure-seeking standpoint, the food is fresh and healthy, with a strong presence of vegetables in the menu, but delicious and varied, presenting delicious fish and meat options for those who seek it.

Personally, I happen to be a big fan of their blackened chicken (as a side), or their grilled trout (mouthwatering plate/platter), and though this means getting a lot of food, I always order a side of market vegetables, which often ends up being a large platter with a choice of four sides (it’s a large plate, and costs only $15). Among these, their grilled oyster mushrooms are to die for, as their Asian-style bok choy.

Otherwise, burgers are delicious, and accompanied by their home cut fries or sweet potato fries, form an always winning pair.

Basically, this is a must try for any New Yorker, and if you like simple, healthy and tasty cuisine, it will become one of your go-to spots.
